Meet coach MichaEl Cobbins Sr.
Co-Owner, Sports & Programs Manager
Michael Cobbins Sr. graduated from Westport High School, Kansas City Public School District and attended Missouri Western State University where he earned a Bachelors in Science in General Physical Education and a Master's in Education Athletics/Activities Administration from….. While attending Missouri Western Cobbins played defensive lineman for the Griffons Football Team. Coach Cobbins was a Three-time, First Team All-MIAA, All-American 2004-2006 by Don Hansen Football Gazette. Cobbins also holds several records for the Griffons and was recently inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. After college he played for the Arena Football League 1 (AFL 1) as a full back with the Los Angeles Avengers before the leagues untimely lockout after his rookie season.
Coach Cobbins has mentored and coached for over ten years in the Hickman Mills and Independence School Districts. Coach Cobbins currently works for KIPP Endeavor Academy as the Athletic Director. His knowledge, education and experience have given him the ability to build out seven sports programs (football, basketball, track, soccer, cheer leading and dance, volleyball and cross country) over the past four years and formed the Kansas City Metro Conference, an expansion with the Kansas City Public Middle Schools. Coach Cobbins is the current President of the league. Coach Cobbins has developed and mentored many students from elementary and middle school to high school and college. He strives to build lifelong learners through discipline, dedication, perseverance and commitment. Coach Cobbins is a great communicator, motivator, very knowledgeable about sports and programming and has a deep passion for developing youth which make him a valuable asset of the team. |
