Jamel Sims graduated from Hickman Mills High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He very quickly became one of the school most successful athletes during his Freshman year as a Varsity Letterman in football, wrestling, and track & field. Jamel maintained those honors as well as adding many academic honors throughout his high school career! Outside of high school, he ran AAU and USA Track & Field and achieved multiple National Championship honors in multiple events.
Jamel’s passion for sports and athletic training later allowing him play football and run track on the D2 college level for the University of Missouri-Rolla, now known as Missouri S&T. While attending MST, he received 3 business degrees with 3 minors and an MBA. While working towards his MBA, he began studying and pursuing his love for sports through athletic and performance training as a certified personal trainer. Upon leaving Rolla, Jamel began working with University Academy Charter School as an Assistant High School Football and Track & Field Coach as well as the Head Middle School Track & Field Coach. He also worked with the Kansas City Freedom Schools which is the Kansas City division of the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools. He held multiple positions advancing swiftly over seven years and eventually achieving the national curriculum training position known as an Ella Baker Trainer! In 2013 Jamel left University Academy and The Children’s Defense Fund to take a position with YES Youth Fitness where he would hold many positions and help change the name to YES Youth Fitness and Sports Performance. While there he worked as the Membership Acquisition Director and the Team Sports and Performance Director. He also worked as the companies national Marketing Director helping to open over 5 more performance facilities nationally. In 2016 Jamel left YES to take position as a Performance Trainer with the Do Work Factory 2.0 and he currently still work with the Do Work team. He assist Head Trainer Alphonso Hodge, training athlete 4 years and older. The majority of his clients are high school and university level athletes. Jamel is also no stranger to training professional athletes as well! Jamel is currently in the process of attaining new certifications to broaden his training philosophy, knowledge and appeal! |
